Great list, thank you Nat. I've read 5/10 of your list!
For me, Amie McNee's books, courses and content have been an absolute game changer for my creative life https://www.amiemcnee.com/. She is @inspiredtowrite on Instragram. A lot of her work is about re-writing your inner narratives that prevent you from creating or putting your art into the world
She is awesome. All her books are self published and she sells the artist ones direct on her website which I also think is pretty cool and rebellious. She's been on a real journey herself of waiting to be validated by gatekeepers and then actually just putting herself out there
Love hearing about taking the power back and self-publishing. Which one(s) would you recommend first? Completely hear you on the validation -- it's debilitating and can take years to break out of.
I still haven't read Big Magic!! Steal like an Artist is one of my favourites - I always talk to music students about how we learn through the art of pastiche...

Thanks, Janelle, I haven't come across Amie's books, so will rectify that. She sounds right up my street :)

Her three for writers/ creators are
For the procrastinator
For the burned out artist
For the perfectionist
They're all great. I'd prob start with the one that jumps out most to you!
I probably need to read all three :) Thanks, Janelle!
Great list. My favourite is Anne Lamott. I would also add Will Storr’s The Science of Storytelling, which is fabulous.
YES! Love The Science of Storytelling. Will Storr’s back story is really interesting too.
